71st Annual Reunion

Railroading: the Next Big Migration

Grand Rapids, Michigan

August 5-7, 2010

Village church scene

Plans are ongoing for the 2010 Annual Reunion and Business meeting, which will be held August 5-7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Please note the date change...we previously announced earlier dates, but the reunion has been pushed back a week due to conflicts. More details will be posted here as soon as they are available - please keep checking back.

This year’s Reunion theme is Railroading: the Next Big Migration. Our programs this year will offer both genealogy and railroading. On Friday night, Judge Don Johnston, a Grand Rapids native and SFA member, will share with us material from his research on colonial Sheldons.  At the Banquet Saturday night, Don Meints will present a history of Michigan railroads and their growth and development. Click on the thumbnail on the left to see our flyer for information, with more yet to come...

The Reunion will be held at the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown, which has recently been beautifully renovated. The hotel is across the street from the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum and next to the Grand Rapids Public Museum. The downtown area is just a short walk, but there is public transportation and plenty of parking, if you prefer to drive. They are holding a block of rooms for the Reunion at a special rate, so be sure to book early at www.holidayinn.com/grandrapidsdt or call 1-616-235-7611.  If you'd prefer to camp, click on Campgrounds for a list of Grand Rapids area camping facilities.

There are so many things to see and do while you're in Grand Rapids...including shopping, restaurants, theaters, summer riverside events,  several museums, the zoo, and within a short ride, beaches and the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival. Keep checking back for more information about side trips - we'll be adding more information as the Reunion gets closer!  In the meantime, here are some links to a few of the local attractions:

We look forward to seeing you in Grand Rapids in 2010!
